Parent/Teacher Conferences are intended to provide an opportunity for parents to visit with teachers to discuss any concerns or strategies to help their son/daughter. Parents are not required to attend these conferences, especially if you are satisfied with your son/daughter’s report card. Some parents choose to visit with just one or two teachers during this morning/afternoon/evening, which is fine too. Moreover, parents are always welcome to contact teachers and schedule meetings when they think it necessary—no need to wait.
Effective efforts in the education and formation of young people reflect a partnership between parents, teachers and counselors. Parent-Teacher Conferences provide an essential communication link for this relationship. Following are the some answers to commonly-asked questions about Parent-Teacher Conferences:
- Are the conferences mandatory?
Conferences are not mandatory.
- Do I need to set up appointments with my son/daughter’s teachers?
Yes. Please see the link above. Teachers are available in a designated area to receive parents.
- How long do the conferences last?
Each conference is allowed 15 minutes, although each conference does not need to last 15 minutes. Conferences will be stopped after 15 minutes. If you need more time than that, you should make an appointment for another day. Teachers must keep the lines moving during conference times.
- Should my son/daughter attend with me?
Due to the limited amount of time available with teachers on conference days, students typically do not attend parent-teacher conferences. If your son/daughter is struggling and you want to be sure that you, your student and his/her teacher(s) are “on the same page,” you are encouraged to schedule an appointment for you and your student to meet with his/her teacher(s) on another date, which would allow for private, in-depth discussion and personalized recommendations at that time.
- What entrance do I come in?
Please enter through the front doors of the school. You will receive directions from there. Please print a copy of your child’s report card to bring with you that day. Hard copies of your son/daughter’s report card will not be available.
- What if I cannot attend Parent-Teacher Conferences?
If you cannot attend Parent-Teacher Conferences on the scheduled dates, you are urged to schedule a time with your student’s teacher at a different date.
- Will all teachers be available?
No. Ms. Ingraffia (Art and Theater teacher), will not be available for parent/teacher conferences. If you would like to schedule an appointment please email Ms. Ingraffia at cingraffia@saviochs.org

Soar Eagles!
Congratulations to our St. Dominic Savio Lady Eagles varsity volleyball team for defeating the Lady Crusaders of Round Rock Christian on Monday night by a score of 25-14, 25-17, 25-12. With this win our Lady Eagles remained undefeated in district and are the TAPPS 3A District 5 Champions.
Monday night was also Senior Night for our 3 seniors (Ligia Alvarado, Megan Kudlak and Heidi Hausheer). The night began with an introduction of each player and they were presented a “College Gift Basket” with donations from the Savio community. Each was also presented a rose as they were escorted by their parents during the line up at the beginning of the game. As a token of appreciation and good sportsmanship, Savio players also presented a rose to the seniors from Round Rock Christian as well. The evening finished as Parent Letters were read to each player by a member of the volleyball team.
The latest MaxPreps high school ranking has moved St. Dominic Savio up 215 spots to #2015 nationally out of more than 15,400 teams. The Lady Eagles have also moved up 15 spots in the state of Texas to #227 out of more than 1,100 high schools competing in volleyball (ranking for both public and private schools). Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools ranks Savio #14 out of 155 high schools that offer volleyball programs, and of the forty-four TAPPS 3A schools that participate in volleyball, St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School continues to hold the #1 ranking. These rankings are based on wins/losses, strength of schedule, and scores of the games.
The Lady Eagles finished the regular season at 19-15 and district season with a perfect 10-0 district championship. Of the 31 games played in district competition, they finished with an impressive 30-1 record. Come out and support our Savio volleyball team as they prepare to make a run in the State Playoff.
